Let’s face it, most women find it difficult to choose between tampons and sanitary pads. Even though both the products are meant for the same purpose, they do have some differences.

If you are unable to choose between the two, we are here to help you. To choose the right menstruation product, you need to first weigh the pros and cons. This is exactly what this article is about.

    Tampons

Tampons are cylindrical and are made of rayon, cotton, or a mix of both. These small cylindrical product needs to be inserted into the vaginal canal with the help of an applicator. Once inside your vagina, they absorb the blood coming out of your body. You can get the best quality tampons at All About Her. They also offer other menstruation products at affordable rates.

    Pros

    • One of the best things about tampons is that they are small and portable. You can easily carry them in your pocket or purse.
    • Another big advantage of tampons is that they are invisible. Unlike pads, you don’t have to stick them in your underwear. Instead, you push it up to your vaginal opening.
    • You can also swim wearing a tampon which is not possible with a sanitary pad.

    Cons

    • Many women find it uncomfortable to wear as they have to insert it inside their vagina. This may cause discomfort while walking or running.
    • Another problem with tampons is that they can irritate your vaginal canal.
    • Tampons are also known to cause toxic shock syndrome when you leave them inside your vagina for long.

    Sanitary Pads

Sanitary pads are more common than tampons. These pads are made of absorbent materials like polymer or cotton. They are designed to stick on to your panties. The good thing is that pads are available in different sizes.

    Pros

    • Pads prove to be more useful for women with a heavier flow. Also, changing pads is easier than changing tampons.
    • Compared to tampons, sanitary pads are easier to use. All you need to do is stick them inside your panty and you are done.
    • Unlike tampons, sanitary pads don’t put you at the risk of getting toxic shock syndrome.

    Cons

    • Pads are less discreet as they are visible. Those who prefer a more discreet option may choose tampons over pads.
    • Pads tend to move from their place, especially when you are moving too much. However, this is not the case with tampons.
    • You cannot go swimming wearing sanitary pads.

Both tampons and sanitary pads are effective menstruation products. It’s up to your comfort and choice which one you want to use.
